Hard coat, primer and anti-fog coating materials selected for your lenses and your process, proven by trial before you commit. Our engineers have over thirty years of experience in dip coating.

A coating result is decided by three things: the lens, the coating material and the machine that applies it.

Our engineers have over thirty years of experience in dip coating and know how these materials behave in production, not just on a datasheet. We determine the coating your application needs, prove it on your lenses, and supply it.

Coatings we specify and supply

Hard and anti-scratch coatings. The standard requirement on ophthalmic and optical substrates, selected on refractive index match, abrasion performance and what is coated on top afterwards.

Primers and index-matched layers. Where the substrate is polycarbonate or high index, or where an anti-reflective stack follows, a primer solves adhesion and impact problems that no adjustment to the hard coat will fix.

Anti-fog coatings. Permanent anti-fog systems for applications where a lens fogging in service is a safety or usability failure.

Substrates we coat

CR39 and mid index plastics, high index lenses, polycarbonate, Trivex and similar impact materials, pre-coated and semi-finished lenses, mineral glass, and non-ophthalmic optical components including safety eyewear, visors, instrument windows and display covers.

Process problems and advisory support

Most coating problems brought to us are not caused by the coating.

Coating adhesion failure. Crazing and cracking after cure. Orange peel and dewetting. Spotting and inclusions traced back to the cleaning line rather than to the coating bath. Coating thickness that varies across a batch. A coating that performs on one substrate and fails on the next. Yield falling away without an obvious change to the process.

Knowing where to look is the value we add. We offer consultation and advisory services on their own, separate from any equipment or material supply: a review of an existing coating process, a diagnostic visit, a failure analysis, or support in defining a process before you commit to it. Our engineers work alongside your team to diagnose and correct a process you already run, whether or not the equipment came from us.
